Manning Support Services (MSS) is an award-winning community service organisation that has been operating on the NSW Mid North Coast for more than 40 years. MSS is a multi-service not-for-profit, with a mission to enhance the quality of people’s lives by providing services which enable them to live with dignity and respect.

MSS has an opportunity for a Maintenance Worker to join our Home Safety team based in Taree. The position is permanent part-time, with a minimum of 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Our Maintenance Workers support older people in their homes with maintenance, minor repairs and yard upkeep. You’ll provide valuable support to clients from a diverse range of backgrounds, enhancing their lives and helping them maintain independence.

Tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Minor home repairs

  • General maintenance, such as window cleaning, pressure washing and other ad hoc home upkeep tasks

  • Yard upkeep, such as lawn mowing, edging and trimming

Selection Criteria

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in a maintenance position or similar role

  • Ability to perform general maintenance tasks to high standards

  • Ability to operate tools and equipment safely

  • Excellent communication skills including written and spoken

  • NSW White Card (General Construction Induction)

  • Current first aid and CPR certificates

  • Current provisional or full NSW driver’s licence

  • Reliable motor vehicle, including valid NSW registration and a minimum of third-party property damage insurance

  • Smart mobile phone or device with access to the internet

  • Competence in use of smartphone apps and email, and ability to learn MSS internal systems for documenting services provided to clients

  • Ability to get along with people of diverse backgrounds and ages

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • Attention to detail and high quality, professional standard of work

  • Ability to work well in a team, and also independently
