Ironwood Australia is one of Australia's leading suppliers of recycled, reclaimed and sustainably sourced hardwood timber products.

Operating from our Pampoolah manufacturing facility on the Mid North Coast of NSW, we supply premium timber products to architects, builders, developers and homeowners across Australia.

We are seeking an experienced and trade-qualified Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join our operations team and play a critical role in maintaining the reliability, safety and performance of our production equipment.

About the Role

This is a hands-on maintenance position responsible for preventative maintenance, fault finding, breakdown response, repairs and continuous improvement activities across our production facility.

You will work closely with production teams to minimise downtime, improve equipment reliability and ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently.

This role suits someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in their workmanship and thrives in a practical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Preventative Maintenance

• Complete scheduled preventative maintenance activities
• Conduct equipment inspections and servicing
• Identify wear, damage and performance issues before failure occurs
• Maintain maintenance records and documentation
• Assist with maintenance planning and scheduling activities

Breakdown Response & Repairs

• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns
• Diagnose mechanical faults and determine corrective actions
• Repair machinery and equipment safely and efficiently
• Minimise downtime through effective troubleshooting
• Support production teams during operational disruptions

Asset Reliability & Improvement

• Monitor equipment condition and reliability
• Assist with machinery upgrades, installations and modifications
• Participate in root cause investigations
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability and efficiency
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all Safe Work Procedures and company policies
• Comply with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) requirements
• Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments and safety initiatives
• Report hazards, incidents and near misses
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised work environment

About You

Essential

• Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner or equivalent
• Experience within industrial maintenance environments
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read technical drawings and maintenance documentation
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability
• Current Australian Driver Licence

Highly Regarded

• Timber manufacturing or sawmilling experience
• Welding and fabrication experience
• Forklift Licence (LF)
• Elevated Work Platform (EWP)
• Working at Heights
• Confined Space
• Experience with maintenance management systems
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing principles
