About the role

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join Hastings Co-operative Limited in Wauchope, NSW on a full-time basis. This is a strategic position within our finance function, where you will play a pivotal role in managing our financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting and supporting the organisation's growth objectives. The Finance Manager will report directly to senior management and will be instrumental in maintaining the financial health and compliance of the co-operative. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to an established organisation with a strong community presence.

Key responsibilities

Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports to senior management and the board.

1. Develop and maintain financial systems, processes and controls to ensure accuracy, efficiency and compliance with accounting standards

2. Manage the annual budgeting process, including forecasting, variance analysis and financial performance monitoring

3. Conduct regular financial analysis and provide strategic insights to support business decision-making

4. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, co-operative regulations and internal policies

5. Supervise and mentor members of the finance team, fostering professional development and maintaining high standards

6. Liaise with external auditors and manage the annual audit process

7. Manage banking relationships and treasury functions, including cash flow management

8. Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and process improvement within the finance function

What we're looking for

1. Minimum of 3 years' experience in a financial management or controller role within a mid-sized organisation

2. Strong proficiency with accounting software and financial management systems, including experience with ERP systems

3. Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis

4. Solid understanding of accounting principles, tax obligations and relevant regulatory requirements

5. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

7. Proven leadership capability with experience in managing and developing finance teams

8. Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and compliance

9. Experience in the co-operative sector, retail or not-for-profit organisations would be advantageous
